Hi, I'm Jacob

I'm a GIS and photographic specialist with two decades of technical experience.

I've spent more than 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, operating aircraft communications systems and managing Department of Defense information networks, developing technical solutions to meet operational requirements and working to make intricate technical concepts more accessible and actionable for decision-makers. In this time, I've learned how to present information to non-technical leaders, bridging the gap between technical complexity and clarity in order to succeed in high-stakes no-fail environments.

I now leverage this technical foundation alongside my passion for GIS and design. GIS is a fantastic tool for spatially visualizing data, able to uncover patterns that traditional methods might miss. When combined with the design skills I've refined through photography, it becomes a dynamic medium for presenting complex information in an engaging way.

Holding master’s degrees in both GIS Technology and Information Technology Management, and having spent years developing my skills in photography and visual design, I am able to bridge the technical and the artistic through my proficiency in tools like ArcGIS, QGIS, SQL, Python, and the Adobe Creative Suite.

I find my inspiration in movies and travel. Movies teach me about compostion and visual storytelling, while travel exposes me to new perspectives and experiences. These passions shape how I approach every project—with creativity, open-mindedness, and attention to detail.

I invite you to explore my works. Visit my GIS portfolio to explore how I make spatial data both insightful and accessible.
