There are several movies that show the dark side of war and the damage done to those that survive, but most do so while throwing accusations. It’s refreshing to see a movie treat it as matter-of-fact. It doesn’t glamorize, or criticize. The war happened, people suffered, and there’s not enough help available for those who need it.
Most of the actors were young in their careers when this was made, and that lends a believability that Tom Cruise, Mark Walhberg, and Bradley Cooper don’t have. It seems more like we’re entering the lives of real people. My only complaint is that we just stay too long.
