Review:

Even though today’s world is nothing like 1936, the movie’s core is timeless. Surviving life is surviving life, whether it’s the Great Depression or COVID, worker strikes or police protests. Even the jokes still hold up, nearly 90 years later. That’s the power of slapstick, and why you can see Chaplin’s influence in the Three Stooges, Dick Van Dyke, and even the Minions. A great intro to Chaplin and the Little Tramp.
